Make the most of your cargo space with a crate with slanty front and back panels.
In particular, my dog loves it. I have two agility performance dogs -- I was using 24" wire crates and working out of the car at dog shows, but my younger dog is longer and bigger (running 16" class) than my Masters dog who runs in the 12" class. With the medium Trixie crate, the young guy gets 30" of floor space and is very comfortable and it still fits in the back of my European SUV with the seats up. Your mileage may vary -- measure your cargo floor! It is not simple assembly, but it does NOT take 1-2 hours for 2 people as the instructions say. It took me about 45 minutes without power tools on my own. It does require the right sort of mindset that can visualize how it's supposed to go together. My criticisms of this crate: The floor is too slippery and I will need to add a bumper mat. It's possibly too hot on the hottest days in the summer -- add fan, cool blocks, or frozen water bottles. It's hard to secure a water dish.Edit: I've been using it over a year now. Still like it. It's NOT too hot and I've been paying attention. Still don't have the best water dish set up. Thinking of a bottle. Also the floor is really slippery and if your bumper mat is a tad too large the door doesn't shut easily. Still and all, I am agonizing over trying to slip a second one in next to it in lieu of the 24 in wire crate!2020EDIT: Still happy with the crate. Using it for a 15 lb 14 inch agility Sheltie. Very roomy for him. Now driving an X5 BMW ... lots of room behind the crate for other show needs such as chairs. Crate has held up well although my Shelties do not chew or scratch their enclosures. I use this crate daily, and see no need to replace anytime soon.

High Quality, and Silent. Love it!
Love this crate! My dog is a Portuguese Water Dog, 19.5" tall at the withers and a length of 22" collar to base of tail. Pup has plenty of room to stretch out, sit or stand up. The Large size crate is a good fit for her. I love it so much that I purchased a smaller Medium size for my daughter's standard schnauzer to ride in when we go to dog shows together in my van.Pros: Solid, well made, NOT A SINGLE RATTLE! Looks really elegant, got lots of compliments from my dog show friends. Great value for the quality. Pup likes that she can stick her muzzle out the door a little and rest it on the bars. Plenty of ventilation and visibility for pup. Designed to fit the angle of the rear seat-backs and the rear hatch, which gives me lots of extra room in my cargo area.Cons: A bit difficult to put together, and the directions are not especially helpful (but I did figure it out on my own and it took about and hour tocomplete). It is very heavy which makes it not very portable, so it is staying put in the car. No pan, so best for completely potty trained dogs. The dog can stick its muzzle out of the slots in the bars about 3" so a chewer might be destructive of any bits of the car interior it could reach! The dog could also reach its paws out through the door bars to grab at things and possibly pull them into the crate. The door latch sticks out on the side of the crate, so it is difficult to make two crates fit side by side in the cargo area.Overall: Love it! Solves the horrid rattle problem from wire crates. Liked it so much I have bought a second one for another car.

2008 Honda CR-V- fits perfect
I just got a 2008 honda cr-v, and the back is so sloped that only one medium kennel-aire crate would fit there. I have 3 dogs, so one dog could go in the crate and 2 had to be in seatbelts. I don't mind a dog beside me in a seatbelt, but don't like them out of reach in case they get tangled or something. So I found this crate- great price, and it looks great. The measurements seemed to fit, so I ordered and hoped. When it arrived, and put it together myself (it says to have two people) with very little problems. It fits the car like it was made for it. There is about 5 inches on each side, but since the side sort of curves that works out. The seats are able to be back and at a comfortable angle, and the crate fits against them. It's big enough that two dogs fit comfortably (one 28 lbs, one 40 lbs- whippets). I love it. My son can look over his shoulder and check on dogs for me, there is a good view out the front and sides of the crate at the top.Crashworthiness- this crate is not crash tested, as far as I can tell. I'd love a variocage (which is crash tested), but can't afford over $1000. This crate is very similar looking to one sold by 4pets- proline, also touted by ceasar milan. They claim proline is crash tested also. Materials and build of the proline crate are almost exactly like this one, with differences in the door latch and corner plastic fittings, so this crate would probably fare the same in a crash test. This crate should be placed up against the rear seats of the vehicle. In a crash, the dog may break through the pressboard sides of the crate- that's the weak point of it. At least if it's against the seats, the dog won't fly out of the crate and go out the windshield. The framework and bars of the crate is very solid and sturdy, it's just the pressboard that I worry about.I haven't had mine for long, but so far no problems with the door latch, which is a problem for some reviewers. My dogs do not mess with the inside of the crate though. If your dog is a crate digger, you may want to put something on the floor to prevent them digging through the pressboard. But compare to other similar crates, and this one is a bargain. The CR-V is so similar to all the other small SUVs out there, it will probably fit fine in most of them. Mine has to be back far enough from from the hatch for the door to clear the sill, luckily it just fits and the door can be opened with no interference. It's a big wide door, which is nice for the dogs jumping up into the car.Overall, I am very pleased with it. Fits perfectly, allows me to crate two dogs, and no sharp edges to scratch up my car. No rattles at all while driving either. Be prepared to have a dolly handy when it's delivered, this model is over 50 lbs. Lay everything out and remove the plastic. They include an allen wrench, and that's all you need to assemble it. Some people use a rubber mallet but I'm not sure for what. It goes together very precisely, make sure all the pressboard is snug in the grooves in the aluminum. I checked mine a day later and had to tighten a screw that I apparently didn't get tight- the front panel was out of the groove on one side. So I just checked all of them just to make sure.
