Gimmick
This is not good quality, it's good for a gimmick but if you want something to impress, this is not the product for you. It feels cheaply made, the frame is a bit splintery and doesn't quite align properly so wobbles a little on a flat surface. The slate is not what I would expect for a product that is going to be used with food on it. There are different grades of slate, but this looks like it's just straight out of the ground and not been processed.. it's very thin and crumbly, almost earthy at the edges. I feel like if you use it to display food then it will leave a kind of dust on the food, and any foods with any moisture content at all will stain the surface of the slate. Because the slate platters are so thin, they're not very heavy.. and as they just rest on the wobbly frame they're easy to knock off unless you're very careful.. so likely to break quickly as they're fragile and brittle. If you want a good quality slate serving platter that will last, I would recommend anything by The Just Slate Company. I have several of their products and they aren't cheap but are worth every penny; they are beautifully finished and treated and presented, and have a wow factor that this just doesn't have. Wish I'd just bought another of their products and not bothered with this.

OUCH!
This looks ok but I received a scratch to my hand the first time I used it. Why? well as the pictures show there is a sharp point sticking out of the side of the unit when opened fully. This could have been avoided if the designer had shaped the wedge with a flat finish. Also be careful as the 'corners' on the slate shelves are quite sharp, and we had a couple of bits of flaked of slate when first used. Otherwise it fits the purpose, and because it folds flat can be stored. Not a bad buy just could have been better with a bit of 'fettling'

Poor quality
Don’t waste your money. The wooden hinge on one side was already broken when it arrived. Not surprising when we examined it. It was so flimsy, if it wasn’t broken when it arrived, it would probably have collapsed the first time I tried to use it. I’ve kept it because it was ordered for a specific occasion & I didn’t have time to get another one. My husband has repaired the hinge. At the very least, I can use the two slates on their own when the inevitable happens again.

Good quality
The wooden frame is slightly darker than I expected but it still looks nice. It folds fairly flat, so it can stay in the box. The slates are rustic cut, and perhaps a little fragile. However, the overall effect is very nice. These look like the sort of thing you might find in a artisan deli or café. I intend using them to display cupcakes for sale, and they will probably take 18 muffin size ones. They are well worth the money I paid.

This was a gift for my Mum. I didn't see it until she opened it. It looked cheap and was disappointing for the price.

Great for entertaining
Excellent product. Great for parties. Can use for anything. Have used it for cake and cheese stands. Bought one for my friend, she loved it. Great for entertaining and looks great.

Well Worth the money
After reading the negative and positive reviews I ordered this food display stand for sushi nights and afternoon teas love it love it displays food with a touch of elegance
