works well...not too heavy
extremely functional. I take this only tarp camping and it's all I need. Usually put over tent and extend it for an eating or sitting ares outside the tent. good quality grommets. good value for money. it holds the rain or snow away outside. It is not thin thin tarp or not a thick thick one. cartable and the right thickness.

Versatile and Durable Tarp
I recently purchased the FREE SOLDIER Waterproof Portable Tarp for a camping trip, and it exceeded my expectations. The tarp is made from high-quality 210T ripstop polyester fabric with a 2500 PU waterproof rating, providing excellent protection against rain and UV rays1. It's also tear-resistant and puncture-resistant, which adds to its durability. The tarp is large enough to cover a significant area, making it perfect for various uses such as a shelter, awning, or ground cover. It comes with all the necessary accessories, including nylon guy lines with tensioners and a stuff sack, making it easy to set up and pack away2.Overall, this tarp is a fantastic addition to my outdoor gear. It's versatile, durable, and provides reliable protection in different weather conditions. I highly recommend it for camping, hiking, and other outdoor activities.

Great Tarp, Great Price
Tarp looks really sturdy and does not seem to weigh much. I got the 10x13 and i am still waiting for the 13x13 tarp to arrive. These are gonna be cool awnings for the Vermont XLP I am picking up .The price was really good as the ones that i was looking at were almost 200 for the same size as my large one. I got both the biggest ones they had for about 80 dollars. Will buy again. Also have the Green Elephant poles , pretty cool.

Decent tarpaulin for outdoor activities
TLDR; A good waterproof tarp option for outdoor activities, solid reinforcement on seams and attachments, too few stakes, poor stake quality, loose threads, price may be a bit high. The tarp itself appears to be of decent quality, with solid reinforcement at the seams and attachment points (+). In several water tests, the tarp appears to be water proof (+). The only issue I have with the tarp is the several long threads around the edges (photo). Easy enough to deal with, but I would expect a bit more quality control (-).The included stakes (photo) are extremely lightweight (0.425 oz / ~12g each) and do not appear to be high quality (-). Attempting to use them in U.S Western clay (Caliche) immediately begins to bend them. In addition, most scenarios will require more than 4. I switched them out for 8 titanium alloy stakes. which work well in our ground conditions. The included cordage and sack are a nice addition (+).

Extra parachord and flat head stakes a must
Probably not as big as the pics entail but big enough to cover a hammock..good quality..decent parachord..I think the use of orange for the logo is dumb..nothing a black sharpie can’t fix..recommend a few hundred feet of extra parachord in your ghb (get home bag)

Quality
I took the photo to show the physical size difference between a low cost but adequate 10x10 tarp, that leaks through the center seam. The Free Soldier tarp (10x13) is made of a heavier but a much more durable fabric. The seams are taped and the corner and all other attachment points are solidly sewed on.The tarp comes with 4 long cords and 4 slip line gizmos to tighten up the guy lines.I am looking forward to the additional 3 feet of coverage this tarp provides over my existing tarp (10×10).I especially like the more natural brown color that is less visible in the wild.I purchased this for better coverage for hammock camping.EDIT: 5/23/2025I set up the new tarp over the weekend. The fabric appears to be very durable and definitely waterproof with a taped center seam for waterproofing. The corner tabs seemed sufficient with plenty of tie offs for extra support. No crinkle sounds if windy. Brown color blends in with nature.

Great Tarp !
Great tarp !Coverage was great.Good value for the money.Wind resistance is good, as long as you know how to use your tarp to block it.Durability is good, it lasted almost 8 months set up in a backyard garden in The Windy City of Chicago. It will be a good bushcrafting, hiking, camping tarp.Possibly good for a long-term scenario.Check the attachment points, if left in place for a long time or through winter conditions.

Easy to carry. Easy to pack. Easy to set up.
It’s a very durable and versatile trap. The size is ideal for multiple configurations. The colors in my photos is off. The real color exactly as in the product shots. The logo is a too big, but on the olive green version it blends in.If you get it make sure you meld the ends of the paracord. They are already good to go but I’d melt them again.I also would recommend buying an extra set of tent pegs. Again, you’re purchasing a tarp not a tent. So if you want more, get more. I think the four that come with it is plenty for most uses. I got more. The orange tent is an REI Trail Hut 2 as comparison. I set the arp next to it in a folded over config so that I had a ground sheet. Tons of room for one with all gear. Or for two (not sure about the gear though). For all you heroes complaining that you cannot get pack back in the bag… this is my 12 year old daughter’s tarp. She packs it alone and gets it done. Just for perspective. And if you think it’s too heavy: go to the gym. The weight really is appropriate for the size and durability. You can make you own super lightweight out of tyvek, but this one here is really good.I also would add a ridge line to you set. And yes, it will fit in the bag.Overall, we are really pleased with it and only give it 1 star because the delivery tuck had a smudge on the windshield. Just kidding. 5 stars. Good product.
