I got no strings, to hold me down (anyone? anyone?)

I was very fortunate in that I was able to get a NES Mini for my birthday. However, much to my dismay, after unwrapping the package, I discovered what many other NES Mini owners have been on about...short cables (hell of an oversight there, Nintendo). Most notably, the controller cable is incredulously short...I don't remember my original NES having such short controller cables, but back then, cordless phones were all the rage, so there's that.To get around this, I connected the mini using a 10 foot HDMI cable (I don't know why I have this) and an equally long power cable (ANY Micro-USB 2.0 cable will work...don't get suckered in by uselessly fancy titles and overpay for what is the equivalent of a non-Apple phone charger). But nobody likes having cables running from the display, across the floor, onto a table in front of you, just so you can use the packaged controller (which really does feel smaller than I remember). So naturally, I reached for my (wireless!) phone, and pulled up the My Arcade GamePad Classic - Wireless Controller!Ordered on Amazon, arrived on a Sunday (weird!), plugged them in (I ordered 2), and I was rockin' and rollin' without a hitch! The D-Pad is very nice and responsive; the squared A and B buttons were a little odd upon first impression, but they respond smoothly and quickly (important for Punch-Out...more on this later); the back of the controller has this deep(ish) groove in the back that isn't bothersome and makes gripping the controller easy; but notice that I have said nothing about the "Select" and "Start buttons. The center buttons (select and start) are located towards the top of the controller. While this may seem like a small shift, it unfortunately DOES result in a few missed opportunities in games where you may need to pause very quickly (The Legend of Zelda uses the "select" key to pause the game), or you may need to use a super punch (the "start" key in Punch-Out!) but the window of opportunity is but a few seconds, and you're frantically pressing your thumb where the "start" key USED to be (muscle memory can be useless here). This is a somewhat small gripe, but it's a gripe nonetheless (but not quite enough for me to take a full star). However, the wireless functionality is pretty amazing and you can use 2 controllers simultaneously without any hiccups. If you stop using the controller for a short period of time, the controller does disconnect from the receivers, but just remember to hit a button before you un-pause a game and you'll be fine (I don't get ppl who complain about this. Seriously...press a button and give it a second.)Overall, these controllers are pretty awesome, and at this pricepoint, they're hard to argue against (seriously, the $40 controllers are beyond ridiculous as far as price is concerned). I can't speak to battery life because I haven't had them that long and I don't play as long as I'd like, but go to the dollar store (or..uh...go to Amazon! yeah!) and get some triple A batteries and you'll be fine.TL;DR VersionPROS: Wireless; Responsive buttons; Wireless; D-Pad is accurate and comfortable; Wireless; Controller is comfortable in-hand; Wireless; Projected battery life is good (but unconfirmed as yet)CONS: Select and Start buttons are awkwardly placed, which leads to taking punishment in Punch-Out (I miss the "Mike Tyson's" part of that title);NOT-A-PRO-OR-CON: Controller can temporarily disconnect with lack of activity, but just press a button (other than the PAUSE) to restore the connection before you resume your game.

Great Bluetooth Controller with a Home Button for the SNES classic

Hello, everyone. Long time gamer here, just receiving this game pad today. After an hour of use I felt inspired to write a review for this controller.First, the reason I chose this game pad over a more well known brand in 3rd party controllers. The home button. While I appreciate the aesthetics of a clone of the original Super Nintendo controller, the home button is a must to enjoy the Super Nintendo Classic. Some of the other controllers have a button combo method to reach the home screen. I don't feel like having to explain that every time I let someone else use the system, however. The button does what it is supposed to do, make navigation simple.Next comes the pleasant surprise. The controller is great to handle. I was worried before receiving the controller that the shape would be uncomfortable. It is not. The shoulder buttons curve just right with your index fingers and the controller offers good grip without much effort. The controller buttons feel true to the original SNES controllers, with the difference of the A and B buttons being concave and the X and Y buttons being convex. The original controller had opposite setup. The D-Pad is wonderful on this controller. For games like Contra, I would always have issues with my character continuing to run when I needed him to lay flat to avoid damage. This D-Pad eliminates this issue by being much snappier at the tips of the pad, while still allowing diagonal press without any issue.I have not yet been able to test battery life but will update as I use the controller more. The controller take 2 AAA batteries, but offers a micro usb port, which would charge rechargeable batteries.Only con I can think of at the moment would be the weight of the controller. Even with the batteries in it feels a little lighter than I would prefer, however this seems to be only a cosmetic issue as the controller feels durable and of good quality. As for the Bluetooth connection, setup was simple. I plugged in the dongle and hit the home button. That's it. I am receiving no lag from switching away from the corded controller. The range for connection is surprisingly long, much longer than the average person would need to play a game. That is also exciting, as I have experienced both poor connection and lag from previous Bluetooth controllers, which just ruins the gaming experience altogether. You don't want your controller to remind you it doesnt have a cord. You just want it to work. So far that is what i am seeing here.

Does not work with nes classic edition

Do not buy! I bought 2 of them with high hopes. I have been having an extremely hard time finding controllers that fit the Nes Classic (mini) I've tried so many different controllers and so I've come to the solution that NO off brand will work. I've sent back 12 controllers! I always read the reviews. People say it works... so I gave it a shot. Disappointment after disappointment. I don't get it... if anyone knows wtf is going on, please help

Wonderfully wireless

These controllers are great, I have the Nintendo classic mini and the cable is like 24 inches or something crazy short. This controller plugs right up and lets me play wirelessly.
