Most chargers use springs to hold the batteries in place and against the terminal. Those same springs are what break first reducing the amount of charging slots. This charger doesn't use springs and has zero moving parts. The charging indicators are clear showing charging, charged, and defective batteries.

The outer diameter of the Amazon Basics rechargeable AA batteries that I received is slightly larger than a comparison non-rechargeable Duracell AA battery. This make the Amazon Basics rechargeable AA battery a tight fit in a nose hair trimmer that I bought, it slides in but I need to use tools to get the rechargeable AA battery back out.
